OCEAN-VIEW COTTAGE

This lovely, fully furnished, two-room cottage sleeps six people comfortably and is located on a 27-1/2 Acre "Wildlife Sanctuary". It has two good-size rooms, one with a step-down, fully equipped kitchen; plus a large-size corridor which runs almost the full length of the back of the house. Each of the two rooms can be set up in any way the tenant so chooses (depending on length of stay) simply by moving the beds around.

Room #1:
This octagon-shaped room can serve as a living room/kitchen/bedroom combination, which has an excellent, overhead, and oscillating fan. There is a Queen-size bed with huge drawers below for ample storage. There is also a tubular unit for hanging clothes, with simple shelving on the side of it. The kitchen area has a round table with 2 chairs, as well as a breakfast bar with 3 stools for ample dining space. There's a step-down bathroom with hot water shower. The back side of this octagon has a step-down, fully-equipped kitchen with a brand-new, regular size refrigerator, a three-burner gas stove, blender, toaster/oven combination, coffee maker, dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc.

Room #2:
This room, too, can serve as a living room/bedroom combination. It has an oscillating, floor fan. It, too, has a Queen-size bed, as well as two twin beds. The twin beds can be set up with one on each wall that meet with a table in the corner, making a sofa-type arrangement with throw pillows, or they can be pushed together to make a king-size bed. We have kept this room as a screened-in, "open-air" space with beautiful, teal-green,
wrought-iron artwork as window and door covering. Most of our tenants prefer to use this room as an open-air, living room. Running alongside this room, all the way to the back door of the cottage, is a large size patio with double hammock (and space for your own hammock, if so desired). There's also a table and chairs for having breakfast, or all meals, outside. There's a nice, open view of the property, part of which is a view of the ocean. Right out the front door, across the way, there is a path down to the famous Montezuma River.
This gorgeous river has abundant waterfalls (small to huge), varying-size swimming holes, howler and white-face monkeys and all species of birds and animals. Because we're 1 kilometer from town (less than a mile), our guests have the river all to themselves up here. The cottage is less than a 5-minute drive from the center of Montezuma, where one can easily find an abundance of excellent restaurants (if you don’t feel like cooking one night), grocery- and gift-shopping and night life, not to mention the miles and miles of gorgeous beaches and trails!!!

Because Costa Rican land is being sold off so quickly here (We came almost 21 years ago), the wild animals are losing their homes at a rapid rate. Because of this, we have dedicated this land as a "Wildlife Sanctuary". Therefore, all kinds of animals come and live here where nothing will harm nor molest them. The only sounds up here are those of birds, all three species of monkeys who pass by daily and the ocean and river.
Some of the animals we live with here are: mapache (Raccoon), Pizotes (Coatimundi), sloths, monkeys, porcupine, ant eaters, to name but a few. There are also tons of birds of all kinds, etc. We also have a beautiful family of deer on the land as well.

Although most guests prefer to bask in the "silence" that surrounds this sanctuary, listening only to the sounds of birds and animals, there is a 21" television available for an additional charge.
